The components of Habitech International Building System are modular, prefabricated, interlocking, cost effective, high strength concrete based elements that can easily be put in place by unskilled labour without the need for heavy equipment or machinery. These pre-fabricated components are: soil-cement interlocking bricks, concrete interlocking bricks and blocks, concrete joists for floors and flat roofs structure, concrete window and door frames, concrete roofing tiles, concrete staircases (treads and stringers) and concrete rings for septic tanks and water wells. Low-cost construction elements produced permit low-income families, homeowners, local building contractors or community groups to participate in the tasks of constructing affordable housing or social infrastructure buildings such as schools, community centers and health clinics. Building material production facilities can be set up on or near project sites eliminating or reducing transportation costs. The facilities can be configured to the specific demand of projects making sure building materials are available in time for construction to be on schedule. The production facilities are non-polluting, sustainable, light industries where quality controlled building materials are prefabricated to exact dimensions using only locally available materials, creating employment and generating income for local populations. Habitech International and its staff have often been involved in projects for the reconstruction of housing and social infrastructure building that suffered extensive damages from natural disasters or were destroyed by earthquakes. Using the Habitech International system, it is possible to reconstruct solid buildings that can resist earthquakes, high winds, fire and floods. Construction with the Habitech International Building System is faster, easier, strong, durable and has proven to reduce construction costs by as much as 30 to 50% when compared to conventional construction systems. As part of the production packages, Habitech International provides technical assistance and training in production to those becoming producer: at the factory site for medium and large-scale production units and at our workshop for micro and small-scale facilities.
